Opusculum Omni V1.0 amplifier

Construction

Marton Opusculum Omni is a dual mono amplifier that provides maximum electronic and mechanical symmetry. The amplifier was designed in such a way that it could act as three independent devices – an integrated stereo amplifier, stereo power amplifier, and a monoblock.

It uses a powerful battery of “long life” capacitors – 528 000 µF, and several separated power stages, built of low-noise stabilization systems. The design of the power supply ensures the free flow of energy from the powerful capacitor bank to the final stage.

Thanks to the ability to generate high current peaks, Opusculum Omni is fully capable of working with low-impedance speakers. Therefore, each loudspeakers will show its full potential in the system.

Housing / Chassis

The entire chassis of the amplifier (except the shielded transformer housing) is made of non-magnetic materials and resistant to EMI and RFI interference. The housing rests on high-class anti-vibration feet – GigaWatt Rolling-Ball Isolation System.

Powerful radiators, CNC-milled, and perforated top and bottom cover, facilitate heat transfer and meet CE and OHS conditions (protection against penetration of small objects).

All elements of the outer casing, including radiators and the internal chassis are made individually for the company’s order.

Power section

The 1000VA toroidal transformer – dedicated exclusively to audio circuits – is mechanically insulated from the housing. In order to ensure maximum isolation from vibrations (internal and external), the transformer was flooded with a special anti-vibration mass.

For digital systems and control, a separate EI toroidal transformer was used. It also has anti-vibration isolation and does not generate unwanted interference. This transformer supplies the digital circuits controlling the amplifier.

The protection of the power supply has been implemented on elements that do not limit the current flow, as in the case of traditional fuses. A specially designed Hydraulic-Magnetic fuse from Carling Tech was used here.

Controlling

No potentiometer or traditional – typical even for most Hi-End class amplifiers – resistor ladder was used to control the power of the amplifier. Such solutions usually reduce the signal dynamics. The system used in Opusculum Omni does not have this disadvantage. Extremely precise power regulation is possible thanks to the very high resolution of the control system and takes place in 0.5dB steps, which ensures smooth, imperceptible to the ear jumps in volume changes.

The power stage controller section is equipped with its own adjustable set of power supplies, powered from separate transformer windings. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that in the design of the amplifier, the maximum limitation of the wired connections was taken care of and thus the maximum signal path was shortened.

An aluminum remote control is used to operate all amplifier functions.

Electronic circuits

All electronic circuits are assembled on printed circuit boards made of laminate with a thickness of 2-3 mm and a layer of copper 120um coated with precious metal ensuring maximum speed of current propagation. All connections are soldered with a tin-silver alloy.

The final power amplification stage, consists of 28 bipolar Sanken power transistors, working in a push-pull system.

The input signals fed to the amplifier are electrically isolated from the power stage.

The amplifier’s internal wiring (reduced to a minimum) is made using the best Gigawatt Powerlink cables.

Communication between users is provided by a modern alphanumeric OLED display.

Class A / Protection

Marton does not use floating class A solutions that increase current when a more dynamic signal is detected. Such a system cannot respond quickly to changes in the audio signal – music is a set of many impulses. That’s why our class A is constans.

The modern microprocessor system of thermal and short-circuit protection, provides full protection of the amplifier against failures, without affecting the quality of its sound. The system constantly monitors the correct operation of all stages of the amplifier and in the event of any failure, immediately turns off the amplifier, cutting off the signal to the speakers and internal systems.

Power cord

Marton Opusculum Omni amplifier, is equipped with a 1.5m GigaWatt LS-1 EVO+ handmade, power cord. Conductive wires are made of silvered copper strands and covered by multi-layer insulation. The cable has a lossless passive filter made of nanocrystalline materials. Three standards of rhodium-plated plugs, are available – European -SCHUKO, American -NEMA, or Australian – AS / NZS 3112.
